Mistakes that cost money
Decimal feet is not feet-and-inches
5.5 feet means 5 ft 6 in, not 5 feet 5 inches. Half a foot is six inches, not five. This single confusion causes most cutting and ordering errors.
Twelve to the foot, not ten
Decimal habits do not carry over. There is no such measurement as 5 feet 14 inches — that is 6 ft 2 in.
A screen size is not a width
Television and monitor sizes describe the diagonal. Compare your furniture against the panel width, never against the advertised number.
